Abstract

Introduction
Duiker Combustion Engineers is located in Wateringen-NL (main office) and has a branch office in Beijing (PRC). The core business of Duiker Combustion Engineers consists of development, engineering, supply & servicing of combustion- & process equipment. Duiker is market leader in the engineering & supply of combustion equipment for sulphur recovery units (SRU’s) in oil refineries & gas treatment plants.

Combustion of ammonia
In recent years, the stoichiometry-controlled oxidation (SCO) concept has been developed by Duiker Combustion Engineers to handle the ammonia-rich streams from sulphur recovery units within refineries. Several full-scale commercial SCO units have already been designed, delivered, installed, and put in operation on refinery sites across the world, firing pure ammonia or rich ammonia-containing flows. Field test measurements on the full-scale commercial units have confirmed that NOx emission values of 50-80 ppmv (based up on 3 vol.% O2 dry) can be reached, which are far below the emissions created with free ammonia combustion and without the necessity for installing a DeNOx unit. This proven and patented SCO concept is also well suited for application in power generation and industrial high temperature applications in the context of ammonia as future carbon-free energy carrier.

Webinar content
In this webinar we would like to inform you about our experiences with combustion of ammonia and the associated NOx emissions. But first, for those who do not know the Ammonia Energy Association (AEA) yet, we want to introduce the AEA to you. A fast growing global organisation in which the members are working closely together for the ammonia energy industry by creating, collecting, organizing, and disseminating relevant knowledge for the responsible use of ammonia in a sustainable energy economy. Within the AEA we felt the need to positively influence how the populace views ammonia as a future sustainable fuel and therefore the AEA established the “Public Perception Committee.” In this webinar we will describe the main topics and Working Groups of the Public Perception Committee, which are the result of queries from AEA Members, and provide information about how you will be able to influence and to get involved with these activities as an AEA Member.
